Your reading
Your account, your progress, and a portable copy of everything you have kept.
Account
You are reading as a guest. Progress, bookmarks, and notes are stored only in this browser.
An account is optional, and reading never requires one. It exists only to carry your place between devices.
Backup and restore
A single JSON file with progress, bookmarks, notes, and reading settings.
Restoring replaces the reading data in this browser. If you are signed in, the restored data is merged into your account.
How Shelfmark keeps your place
The reader writes your current section, bookmarks, and notes to this device first, so reading works offline and without an account. When you sign in, the library merges those records with your account, newest first. A conflict never deletes the more recent copy.
Your place in an audiobook is stored separately, per book, and resumes from the last section you played.
